Cambridge drink-excursion speculate ‘three times over limit’

The Beds, Cambs & Herts Roads Policing Unit have arrested a van driver who was more than three times over the drink-driving limit.

The driver, who police said was already disqualified for a past drink driving offence, was said to have “needed some help walking and already standing”.

Police gave him a breathalyser test, which confirmed a breath alcohol content of 125μg/100ml. The legal limit for drivers is 35μg/100ml.

The driver was arrested and placed in a police van.

Pictures from inside the van showed empty bottles and cans.

Cambridgeshire Police have launched a 24/7 helpline for residents who want to report people driving under the influence. If you’re concerned about someone driving while drunk or on drugs, you can call 0800 032 0845 in confidence.
