Leon Bailey sends ‘very tough’ Aston Villa message after latest injury setback

Leon Bailey has sent a heartfelt message to Aston Villa fans following his latest injury setback.

It has been a frustrating campaign for Bailey , who arrived at Villa Park for £30million from Bayer Leverkusen last summer. The winger truly announced himself to the Villa faithful with a whirlwind cameo against Everton in September.

The Jamaican doubled Villa ‘s rule when his corner was headed in by future teammate Lucas Digne, before he sprinted beyond the Everton backline to thunder the ball home and complete a 3-0 win. However, that would only last 21 minutes until Bailey was substituted himself, shortly afterwards.

Things spotted in Aston Villa training as prospect returns but midfielder absent

Aston Villa are now just two days away from their trip to Turf Moor as Steven Gerrard’s side look to build momentum with a win over Burnley.

The club ended a minor blip with a comfortable 2-0 win over Norwich last weekend, which ultimately saw Villa relegate Dean Smith’s side. Both Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings were among the goals as their partnership once again showed flashes of thriving.

Aston Villa old boy has special role in Burnley ‘Batcave’

Burnley boss Mike Jackson has revealed that former Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has been helping to plot against Steven Gerrard’s side.

The Clarets have experienced a resurgence following the surprise sacking of Sean Dyche, with the club winning three of their last four games to lift themselves out of the relegation zone. Villa will hope to put a stop to Burnley’s growing momentum when they travel to Turf Moor for Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.

Ashley Westwood will not be lining up against his former club, having suffered a serious ankle injury last month. However, interim Burnley boss Mike Jackson has shared how the 32-year-old will nevertheless have a role to play, despite being injured.

Burnley boss makes ‘strange’ Aston Villa comment ahead of crunch clash

Burnley caretaker boss Mike Jackson has made an “strange” admission ahead of his side’s clash with Aston Villa this weekend.

Steven Gerrard’s side got back to winning ways against Norwich last weekend and will be looking to make two on the bounce as they travel to relegation-threatened Burnley. Villa head into the game three points adrift of the top-half, though the club have two games in hand over 10th placed Newcastle.

Villa could play a pivotal role in Burnley’s bid for survival, with the club set to confront the Lancashire side twice in their final five games of the season. A run of three consecutive wins have lifted Burnley out of the drop zone – but just two points separate Mike Jackson’s team from fellow strugglers Leeds and Everton.
