MIDFIELDER Oriol Romeu insisted it “won’t be easy” for Saints to topple out-of-form Aston Villa at St Mary’s tomorrow (8pm).

Dean Smith’s side make the trip to the south coast, having lost their past four fixtures.

Saints go into the game having picked up seven points from a possible nine, after wins against Leeds and Watford.

Romeu told the Daily Echo: “We know Villa have a good team and it won’t be easy, but getting a win against them would be two wins in a row we haven’t had for ages.

“It’s something that gives a confidence raise to everyone.”

Saints had to wait until their eighth league fixture of the season to get a victory on the board in the top flight.

But now they have beaten sides around them in the standings, Spaniard Romeu is looking to kick on.

“The first few weeks we felt we were doing nearly everything right but results weren’t going our way,” said the former Chelsea man.

“Now it’s probably more fair what we are getting from what we are doing. It’s nice to have it and I wish we could keep it going like that.

“You need to get those wins to convince everyone and make sure you are doing the right thing.

“Having a win against Leeds, another draw and then a win – it’s a good run.

“Making sure we can keep that consistency – it’s also going to be nice to keep that momentum and confidence going.”
