Protestors in a rubber dingy have confined a busy Glasgow road as they stage a demonstration outside a Santander bank branch.
Extinction Rebellion are joined by AmazonRebellion on St Vincent Street and have been staging the rally since around 4pm.
A ring of police officers could be seen surrounding the climate change activists who are holding a banner reading: “Defund deforestation”.
The words “protect Amazon” and “blood money” have also been spray-painted onto the bank.
A heavy police presence remains at the scene with officers beginning to remove activists from the roadway.
In a video posted online from the scene, officers can be seen attempting to cut by chains linking the activists.
A statement from Police Scotland said: “Our Protest Removal Team are at St Vincent Street, Glasgow and are taking steps to safely remove protesters.
“Our Police Liaison Team continue to include with those involved. A section of St Vincent street is closed and diversions are in place.”
We earlier told how 16 people were arrested after staging a separate demonstration on Lochburn Road in Glasgow’s Maryhill on Monday night.
Protestors chained themselves to bicycles and confined the road outside a venue where business executives were holding a COP26-themed dinner.
